[UPDATE] M3U Dropper V0.592

Although other programs can generate these files, M3U Dropper can use a more portable method of relative pathways.
A 64-bit version is also available for download from the website.

Free Netbook Operating Systems to Replace Windows
Most netbooks ship with Windows, either XP or 7. It's a very powerful operating system. But for the light tasks that people do on netbooks it's not necessary. It's more bloated than it needs to be, and full of features that you don't need.

Your netbook will run faster yet you'll still be able to do all the standard netbook tasks such as surfing, collecting email and playing media files. Here are two free netbook operating systems you should consider.

Here's a short useful tip from our new tips section.
These days it is not uncommon for a PC to have two, three or more external USB storage devices plugged in at the same time. Since Windows assigns drive letters in the order in which you attach a device, the same memory stick can be drive H: one time and drive F: another time. If you have several memory sticks or cards attached, you can’t tell from the drive letter which drive is which. Here's a simple trick that will help makes things much clearer:

Check the Temperature of Your CPU
If your PC keeps crashing for no apparent reason, and if those crashes tend to occur when the machine is busy doing lots of things, there's a pretty good chance that the problem is down to an overheating CPU. Maybe one of the fans in your system has stopped working, or an air vent is blocked with dust.
To help diagnose such problems, here's a wonderful little Windows utility that tells you the current internal temperature of your CPU. If the chip has multiple cores, it'll even give you a separate reading for each. And if there are multiple CPUs, that's catered for too.
It runs on Windows XP and above, and supports a wide variety of CPU types from Intel and AMD. And it's only a 0.5 MB download. Plus, it's available in 32- and 64-bit versions, including a portable version that can be run directly without needing to be installed.

DNS Server Blocks Malware Sites Automatically
Using an alternative DNS server is a very effective way of avoiding hostile websites and other web nasties. It's free, and you don't need to install anything. You simply need to change a setting on your PC or in your router. As a bonus you may also find your surfing is faster.
The free Open DNS server is the best known of an alternative DNS service but our Hot Finds editor has located another that's operated by the security company Sunbelt and it's well worth checking out.

This To-Do List Manager is Top-Notch and Free
If you're the sort of person who buys self-help books aimed at busy people, you've almost certainly heard of David Allen. He's the inventor of a concept called GTD, or Getting Things Done. It's not so much a way of managing your to-do list, but more a way of life.
Wieldy is a free to-do list manager, which its author claims is modeled on the GTD concept. It runs under Windows XP and above, and provides a friendly, intuitive way to manage and prioritize all your tasks and thoughts, and keep track of contacts. It uses a Ribbon-like interface, and I actually think it looks a lot like Microsoft Outlook.

A New Website that Will Help You Amuse Young Children
Lately I’ve been spending a fair amount of time lately looking after my daughters’ pre-school children so you can understand why a press release about a new website filled with children’s amusements caught my attention.
I must admit my expectations were low as many of these sites are very amateurish. However I was presently surprised; this site is very professionally implemented. The coloring application in particular is very well done and emulates closely the pencil and paper experience. But there's a lot more than online coloring: there are lots of kids printables, a huge game section and craft videos as well. I was impressed. If you have young kids you should really check this out.
